Celebrate in style for Summer Music Clinic’s 90th anniversary

This June marks 90 years and more than 90,000 students who’ve attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison Summer Music Clinic. That’s reason enough for a party.

The 90th Anniversary Celebration features special guests, performances, light refreshments, a cash bar, and spontaneous reunions. The event takes place Thursday, June 27, 5-7 p.m. at the University Club in Madison.

“Summer Music Clinic has kept up with young musicians’ needs in an ever-changing world,” said Summer Music Clinic director Elizabeth Snodgrass. “Advancements in technology, the music industry, music education, and even in the value an artist brings to the world has shaped our curriculum as well as the educators and conductors we invite each year. This camp is fun but also directly connected to what’s important in the development of young musicians.”

Tickets for the Summer Music Clinic’s 90th Anniversary Celebration are $25 and are available on the 90th anniversary celebration webpage. Visit the anniversary celebration Facebook page for updates. All proceeds will support program growth and increased access through scholarships. If you are unable to attend, you can still make a donation.

More than 90,000 students have enjoyed Summer Music Clinic over 90 years.

Over the years, thousands of middle and high school musicians have learned from experienced educators and pursued their passions in band, chorus, jazz ensemble, musical theater, and orchestra at Summer Music Clinic.

As Broadway star and Summer Music Clinic alum Nathaniel Stampley said, “Summer Music Clinic was the first time in my life that I had been completely surrounded by young aspiring musicians and faculty that cared about music and learning music as much as I did and still do!”

This year, the Junior Session for grades 6-8 takes place June 16-22, and the Senior Session for grades 9-12 is June 23-28. To learn more and register by April 22, see the Summer Music Clinic website, email SMC@wisc.edu, or call 608-263-2242.
